running tally .

10.30.99 >> Have you ever lost a significant amount of data because of a successful crack attempt on your home network, lost contact with a few people because you lost their URLs/addresses, then wondered with your compatriots, whatever happened to them, and centered this question on one really cool individual in particular, and lost most hope of ever finding them again?

I have. But holy fuck... I found her again.

10.29.99 >> Last night I went to a wet boxers contest. Normally this wouldn't appeal to me (much), but the ad said it was being hosted by Charo. You can't pass up Charo. This one turned out to be a drag queen impersonation of Charo, but she was still cool. It's interesting to see how much flesh people are willing to show in order to win some money.

Being a perfectionist is pure hell. It means never being happy with what you have done, and using that as an excuse not to continue doing more. It means getting angry with people too quickly because they have flaws. It means never promoting yourself because you can't find the right angle -- or more accurately, an angle that is right enough.

10.28.99 >> Not much new on the web, but my subsite got a quick revamp. I'm still piecing it back together, but it's not like there was much there to begin with. Zero Land will remain purely RPG related, whereas everything else will come here.

10.27.99 >> Hmm. While I think it's a neat idea, I'm not sure what to make of tracking your emotional state on the web. But it's kinda neat.

Hot damn. David Bowie now adds video games to his list of creative collaborations. (courtesy o' Wire Mommy)

Okay, I gave in to the iMood thing. Know that I feel The current mood of jason@nullmeansnull.com at www.imood.com.

10.26.99 >> Yes, Stef, it's still a work in progress.

Our neighbors give off x-rays.

Bah! Noticed that my access.log file hadn't grown any since the 14th. When we get the new webserver, I'll be a happy webfutz.

10.23.99 >> Yesterday I spent a ten hour shift at work scrambling to put our company newsletter together with a photo montage. Lots of photos taken, including mine. Oi.

If you're in the Chicago area and pagan, there are lots of Samhain-ish thingers going on.

10.21.99 >> My shoulder still hurts. That's okay, though, because I found out that the state of not being able to remember the word you want is called lethologica; I fall prey to that all the time.

I hadn't been actively wondering if there were other pagans with an eye towards design on the web out there, but I found one anyway.

I used to be a MUSH geek. I still kinda am. Once I coded a magic 8 ball for a cybercafe on one place. Someone else has something similar on a web page.

10.20.99 >> The splashquote in the latest issue of Wired reminded me of something that sprung from my head when I was 18: Science is only differentiated from Art in that Science falls along side mathematics. Science is Art, though, because Art is what is produced when the artist attempts to express how they view and experience the world. Scientists endeavor to do the exact same thing.

Yesterday Vinay and I found vegetarian pepperoni at the store.

Wow. It's a FAQ of some sort. An attempt to keep some sort of content here.

10.19.99 >> Hee! Happy Halloween early.

10.18.99 >> I'm sick today. Not from any particular virus, but a little from several. I have this feeling that I'm contagious, so to save my coworkers from whatever I could have picked up from tromping around in the cold yesterday, I'm staying home. Which means I can work on this page. Huzzah for that. No, I'm not a hypochondriac. I also did something to my shoulder. Nothing's broken; I know what a broken bone feels like and this ain't it. It keeps popping, though, or a sore tendon keeps getting rubbed over the bone, and it hurts.

I'm telling you all this because I get cranky when I'm in pain. I'm putting my cranky on the web for your amusement. Wow!

10.17.99 >> Today I'm here.

10.16.99 >> I have to say that I like RemarQ over DejaNews.

Look! Other Chicagoans! Some of them are, anyway. Go locals.

I have cool neighbors.

10.15.99 >> One of these days I may not sleep late.

Spooky: Using Sherlock, the search +UNIX +logrus +amber listed one of my own pages on top. (If you're a gamer geek like me, you'll get it.)

I had my mind blown a couple times today. That's always good. One tangented off into meeting the site of a really nice woman.

Engineering towards amusement rocks. I got the square one.

10.14.99 >> I think I'm finally getting over this sort-of cold. It's a sort-of cold because at first I sort-of had a sore throat, then I was sort-of sneezing, and now my nose is sort-of stuffed up.

I really hope this click once a day to donate food thing is legitimate.

People like to give stamps away now.

A message from my sponsors.

Today I found out that no = 120, not 404 as I had thought. I stand corrected.

10.13.99 >> I had to deal with a flat tire from last night this morning. I am not a happy person.

Brazil is weird.

So are Americans and Germans.

This whole vanity/art website thing is booming and I'm continuing the (um) proud tradition, but I hadn't found one so blatant about it until today.

10.12.99 >> Though I haven't tested it much (or, actually, more than once), I'm interested in the new search engine Oingo. It references not just the occurance of the search term, but the definition of the search term with words of similar meaning.

Scary, scary article regarding the neo-pagan movement in the latest installment of The Philadelphia Trumpet (no copy of the story on their site, unfortunately). Apparently they're concerned that there's an army of witches getting ready to fight at any imagined slight against them, moving as one cohesive whole. Not too paranoid.

10.11.99 >> Someone said there wasn't enough info here. That's because the site's being built and is a work in progress. Here's something for me to update, though, to help us all pass the time. Sorry to all those with a weblog that I might be copying. I am copying you. I have no war3z.

I received a strange email in one of my Yahoo! accounts today:

The informed people in our society will be among the wealthiest in the coming era. I have the necessary information to be one of them,do you?

So I call the number and get something about being tax-free and making a six digit salary within 4 to 6 months without a franchise or pyramid scheme, etc. etc.

That's not the point. The point is that I'd be appreciative if someone sends me a recording taken from the message of the guy saying 'Yes or no.' It's the most clipped sounding ending to a sentence I've ever heard. I just don't have the recording equipment to do it myself.

A dear friend of mine came up from Indiana to visit last weekend, and a bunch of us went to a weird restaurant reminiscient of the Addams Family.

If you haven't already done so, please alter reality.

Along those lines, here's a rough draft of something I'm working on.

It's cool to look at, but... I'm missing something. But it's cool to look at.
