Somnolent
be away!

You will read these sites and love them like I love them... which is pretty creepy, but that's how it is.

Weblogland:

Sam.vis.nu >> Sam's my ex-roommate. He's funny and smart and is the posterchild for orneriness and I've seen him naked and you haven't. Seeing him naked was an accident and all, but it was my accident, not yours, ha ha!

The Jon-Jon Diaries >> John is like the gay older brother I never had. And when I say "had" I don't mean in the tawdry oh-ho-ho! meaning of "had" but for the record, that's never happened, either. Despite the fact that he and his boyfriend Matt are both godawfully adorable in the way you wish you could "have", seeing them together does not inspire lascivious thoughts at all, and instead makes you feel all warm and fuzzy that big fat gay hairy men can find real happiness in a normal, committed relationship, and do not have to submit to being fetishized by a subculture in order to find companionship, and everything is alright with the world, and the Advocate and its depilated boytoys can shove themselves right up their own bumcakes. Oh, and the Diaries are fucking hysterical. John takes select parts of his daily occurances and serves them up as tiny narratives of quirkish delight. Go read them and prepare for re-evaluation, heathens!

Herbivorous >> My high school chum goes to New Mexico, gets certification in herbalism, moves back to Chicago, and starts a weblog. She did a lot in between, but that's the short version of me to her to weblog.

Jill Matrix >> Nancy is Jill Matrix. Nancy works at a paper, which is my best guess as to how she can keep up with all the news going on about how American Culture doesn't want Us. Dissecting the news with a down-to-earth wit and She's also a hottie and had a lesbian marriage in April 2002 and she's just the best. I harrass her mercilously on AIM and now she's sorry she ever gave her screenname out.

Little.Yellow.Different. >> Ernie he is a hot gaysian lover / Ernie he is smoove like Danny Glover / Ernie can out-dance-and-groove Britney fucking Spears / Ernie makes it funny and he's going on two years / Ernie he's like chocolate all licky-silky / Ernie he's allergic to booze and should switch to milk (hee!) / Ernie he runs web-gameshows like he was all Wink Martindale / Ernie he can nurse our wounds just like he's Florence Nightingale / Go read and laugh / now / fucker.

Signalstation >> Amanda and Michael were met through my other ex-roommate Genna, who was roommates with Amanda in college. A&M are fond of independent comics, detectives, vignettes of craziness, zines, and other literary endeavors. They're so damn weird in all the right ways. Please sample their offerings as I have offered their samplings. Also see ttto.

Ultramundane >> isn't. Neither is Casey.

Patricking >> Pk's completely fucking talented and I hate him for it. Bitch. No, that's not true at all, except for the talented part.

Su >> is up to something, I just can't immediately fathom what. All I know is that it periodically involves kicking me via ICQ.

Prolific >> When I first started weblogging on the nullmeansnull.com domain, I wrote a few emails to a few webloggers I admired. Prol was the one that paid attention. She's got a special place in my heart for that. It helps that her writing voice is engaging without wasting your time. She's got a way of stepping in, making her point, and stepping out. I love that. (And I still owe her a drink for something, though I forget what.)

Hit or Miss >> One of my first weblog-land friends, curator of the GLBT weblog portal, admin of Web Queeries, and generally sweet guy who keeps fucking with his Tivo.

Fairvue >> Nikolai was more active in weblogging before he had to go to college and get all academic, but he still finds time to put out neat features, and I'm stealing the idea. :) He's an incredible designer, he's won awards at SXSW, and he's able to view the whole weblogging phenomenon without getting mired in any of the politics. And he's only 19. It's too late for me to grow up to be him.

Grim Amusements >> Iain dissects current events with a critical eye and a not-so-gentle humor. And he's cool enough to come to my poetry readings.

/usr/bin/girl >> All I can say is that if I was a woman and lived in Seattle, I'd be Zannah. Or someone like her. See also Vox Machina and .found.

comic artist by night... >> The tales of a freelance illustrator in Ann Arbor. I met Wendi through our shared love of the Amber RPG, and we keep running into each other online here and there, even if it's months between pings.

I've probably forgotten some folks; this list is growing.

Chicago Weblogs:

to be finished later.

Wider Web:

Vipe.org >> Nikki expounds upon American culture's beauty myths without getting snide at anyone, save for some of the idiots who write in. Also from Nikki: personal, her book, her deadjournal.

Dynamanga >> Dirk's online comics, including the graphic novel-in-progress, Paradigm Shift. Manga crazy goodness.

Strang-Frost Productions >> Wendi's excellent illustrations and comics. So pretty!

Cygnoir.net >> Halsted got out of the online-journalling business and couldn't be happier. She left a forwarding address and I couldn't be happier.

the essentials of Kurt Heintz >> Frankly I think the essential Kurt Heintz is the one I hang out with and with whom I dish heavily. Fellow ex-Swallowing Saint, curator of the e-poets network.

Something Positive >> Funniest webcomic ever.

My Foo Elsewhere:

side zero >> Depository for all the stuff that doesn't go here. RPG junk, music (like that yes), whatever else I stash there.

e-poets: Jason Schupp >> Some of my poetry recordings archived in the e-poets Book of Voices. I still need to get the archivist a better picture.

ikuze! >> Automatic writing. The word "ikuze" is Japanese and roughly translates into "let's go!"

The Journal of Evan Gorbey >> Okay, so I participate in this group called NERO, right? They've got a Chicago chapter and so once a month or so I get some camping gear together and renaissance clothing and go pretend to be a magician that can cast healing spells with a bunch of other people pretending to be other way-out-there things and it's more fun than I'm making it out to sound. And since I'll take the opportunity to write some different things, I started a journal for my character. It's somewhat accurate, somewhat tongue-in-cheek. You can go laugh at me now.
